Support2Sports is a non-profit organization that promotes sports in general and golf/tennis for children in The Netherlands. Their goal is to help talented children to develop their skills and to get a successful golf or tennis career abroad. Once a year a golf-tournament is organized for the most talented golfers in The Netherlands and players from other countries, called Faldo Series Netherlands Championship. The winners of all age categories are invited to play in the Faldo Series Grand Final in Lough Erne, Ireland.
Launched by Sir Nick Faldo in December 1996, the Faldo Series (charity number 1102719) aims to give opportunities to young people through golf and help to develop tomorrow’s champions.
The Faldo Series is the only global programme of its kind. It identifies talented young golfers aged 12 to 21 and helps them fulfil their potential through a series of events that combine tournament experience with expert advice, including support and advice from Nick himself. With very few barriers to entry, the Faldo Series is open to all, regardless of gender, background or financial circumstance.
During an interview with one of our support assistants, Ilja Vermeulen, office manager of Stichting Support2Sports, stated that they’re very happy with the friendliness and ease of use that characterizes WPML. They made use of this multilingual plugin created by ICanLocalize to get their WordPress site “Faldo Series” localized into four different languages. Visitors speaking Dutch, English, French and German can access all the info they need in the site in their mother tongues.
“It’s very easy to install and a very friendly plugin,” Ilja said. They translated not just contents but the widgets and plugins as well. WPML was the ideal solution to build their multilingual site.
