    And additionally, have you checked with e.g Nokia how Swipe is translated in their new devices ( http://swipe.nokia.com ). Some of those translations seem to provide directional information in the translation which is not correct.

      Unfortunately, different manufacturer tend to use their own terminology to be unique. I think iPhone, Android, WM7 and Symbian may have their own terms for one and the same function or feature. I believe this glossary will develop and will segment into the OS-specific categories. As regards the instructional strings, their translation seems quite appropriate to me.

      Thanks for the suggestion. I want to have this feature too. Right now, this page is a static WordPress page, so it includes everything. I’d like to enhance it with some Javascript, so that visitors can choose what to display. I too don’t like the fact that it’s so wide and it will be more difficult as we add more languages.

      Achievements

    “Keyboard Clics” is sometime translated differently. I’ve found a few translations in the Apple’s User Guide:

    Spanish: Clics del teclado
    German: Tastaturanschläge (I prefer: Tastaturklick)
    French: Clics du clavier
    Italian: Clic tastiera

    This is a nice list. I’ve found that by properly localizing app keywords, I’ve managed to get a 7x increase in traffic!!! Pretty incredible.

    It would be nice if you had such a service – because you actually to choose the “right” keywords you need to do KW research in the specific language – just translating is not the right way to go about it, from a traffic perspective.

    Does anyone know where I might be able to find translations for other ‘game terminology’? e.g. “Game Over” “Upgrade” (as in upgrading your character’s specs) and so forth?

    Note – very disappointed to see that the (free) version of Angry Birds Star Wars isn’t localised… at …. all….

    I believe not localisaing is very rude and disrespectful to those markets that you’re selling to.

    Some other ‘gaming’ terminology to localise:

    “Game Over”
    “High Score”
    “Score”
    “Upgrade” (e.g. to upgrade your character’s stats)
    “Pick-ups”
    “Rank” (e.g. a player’s rank)
    “Level” (game level)
    “Multiplier” (multiple hits)
    “Tap to Start” (for mobile apps)
    “Play” (to start a game)

    I’ll post more when they come to mind….
